I absolutely love this....

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song.

You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads. Or better yet, date a girl who writes.

Living Room Makeover

Slowly and on a low budget I have begun redoing our living room. The hubby had it already styled nicely when I moved in when we got married, but I'm ready to put my own touch on things.

I want it be warmer with more light and cozy and soft with classic accents. When it's done i'll post a before and after video. One of my favorite new pieces in the room is my armoire I got for a great deal! It unfinished pine I believe and gorgeous. The texture in the wood is amazing.

DIY Nails

So I went in for a manicure the other day and got a simple polish with a design on my ring fingers and loved it. However, after watching her do the design, I figured I could do it myself for cheaper (oh, but how I love the hand and arm massage). The first one was a pale pink with silver and gold stripes. I did mine myself with a grey with silver and pewter stripes.

Project 2: Mirror

Trash to Treasure :)

I've been really wanting a large mirror over my mantle after looking at, of course, Pinterest :)  I found this mirror at a yard sale and was expecting it to be around $50. The guy sold it to me for $15!!! It's a super large heavy mirror too :)

Before: Dark Wood. (Not what I needed to add light to the living room)

Please ignore the crap in front of it.

During:

After:

Cost: 15.00 for the mirror. (mom already had the paint and primer)
Process: I cleaned all the dirt and dust off first. We prepped the project by applying tape around the inside. Second, we applied two coats of primer because it was so dark. Finally, we painted it white (to bring in light!)
Time: About 45 mins!!

Family Time

Fellowship:

I had a wonderful dinner tonight with my big brother and beautiful niece tonight. She is seriously growing up on me. My brother is seriously the greatest man I know and he and his wife have done a wonderful job raising their little (not so little) girl :)

Redecorating

Project 1: Coffee Table

My coffee table in my girly/fairy tale room (explanation to come) was efficient but didn't match the other furniture in the room. The wine rack, currently my book shelf ;-), picture frames, and chest were all a dark wood while this one was an orangish color.

Before:
Not a great picture to see its original color.
You can really see the orange color in this picture. This was during the stripping process. The last half of the picture shows what it looked like before I started.
After:
You can see how it matches the furniture behind it.

Cost: 8.00 for the stain
Process: We first stripped the old stain off the table. Then we sanded it down and reapplied new stain. Finally we applied two coats to get it this color.
Time: If I had done this project strait threw I could have finished in a day, but I had to stop the stripping process for other things. Staining took about 45 mins.

Reading and Relaxing

I love to slip away from stress and reality at least once a day. Reading really gets my mind off of the present and I love the feeling I have when I know that I am about to pick up a book. Reading is really one of my favorite things to do. I would classify myself as a bibliophile.

um..ok...yeah...here you go:

One of my prized possessions is my little library of books. I love to own books and collect them. No, I haven't read all of the books I own and yes, I still buy new books. I have ready most of my books and have the goal to eventually get to them all. (ps: there are more books now than when this picture was taken)

I am really into young adult books, but do branch out to other genres. Please if you have a question about any of the books or any recommendations I would love to hear them! :)

Scarves

I am becoming more obsessed with scarves for this fall. This is an excellent video to give you ideas for how to wear yours. Sooooo entertaining.

Chillaxin

Beach time. Having a great time but missing my hubby. I will be so glad when this short semester is over for him. It has been so weary on both of us.

Take 1:

Creating my first blog. I have been inspired by many blogs and have now taken the time to create my own. I hope this can become a way of sharing my thoughts and ideas with others. Hopefully my blog becomes a timeline of future memories to look back on.
