Finished Nursery!!

My mother in law had some left over fabric from the bedding so she made a valance for the window which Rhett hung for me.

and now...

I love these little guys. All gifts for Liam. The blue bunny is made from old blankets. The Peter Rabbit blanket is precious (severe obsession with Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter growing up) and I love Sammie the Lamb...note the cross on his right hoof :) "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Stuffed animals from my childhood and other keepsake gifts.

On the opposite wall of the bookcase is the changing table/dresser. Momma and I hung little shelves over it for decoration.

As you continue to turn you have the last wall which displays a Peter Rabbit painting [ done by my mother-in-law :-) ] and the finished organized closet!

~ Nursery Closet ~

So we have a dresser for storage, check. We have a bookcase for some storage, check. Looking around room, still not enough storage. Okay, maybe it was just my nesting. Time to tackle the closet. It wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined. Maybe it was, but mom was coping well and helping so much! Thanks Mom!

So here is the before. It's a tiny closet with little room and space so we needed to make the most of it.

Holy crap right? Again time to trash and re-home everything. We eventually got it emptied out and everything reorganized else where.

Now it appeared to empty and the marks (I know you can't see them, but they bothered me). So, I decided to paint the closet! :) My husband totally didn't see the point but I totally understood why. It's just a closet. However, terrified I'd have a hormonal melt down being the sweet man he is, he decided to help tape off everything. :)

Getting ready to paint! I love these valspar samples!! So cute.

Finished look..... deep breath.....

So much better don't you think? (Yes, I later went in and painted the white trim around the bottom a mint color).

~ Nursery Continued... ~

So we moved the crib and dresser into the nursery. Please ignore the paint swatches all over the walls. I was unsure of whether or not to paint the nursery light blue or not. We decided not to because we figured the blue bookcase and blue accents would be enough.

When it came to a theme for the nursery, originally I wanted a nautical theme. However, after husband told me that he hated or wasn't a fan of the idea I decided to go no theme and stick with just a color scheme (blue, white, cream, tan).

I started looking into bedding first because the it seems like such a focal point in the nursery. Of course, my great taste in decorating ;) falls in love with a SUPER expensive crib set. I knew there was no way in Haiti I was going to spend LITERALLY $1,000.00 on something that would last a year and be something he would probably poop on.

I asked my mother in law if she thought she could make the bedding set and she said yes! Needless to say I was super excited!

So.... inspiration:

The actual fabric used in this bedding set is toile central park which my mother in law was able to find! The exact same fabric...happy dance anyone?  :)

..... Liam's beautiful bedding set! Thanks Meme!!

~ Preparing for Liam: Nursery! ~

We decided to turn the guest room into the nursery. We considered Rhett's study but knew he still needed his space because I sure as heck wasn't going to give up mine in the pink girl room.

I have searched and searched for a darn picture of the guest bedroom. I need a before picture right? For the life of me I can't find one! :( Sad times. Will update this post when I find one.

It started with disassembling the bed. Then we had to trash re-home everything in the room. Such a freaking chore!

Next, we started finding pieces of furniture for the nursery. We were on a budget so we couldn't go out and buy expensive pieces so Momma and I would go to yard sales and discounted furniture stores. A fantabulous co worker of mine GAVE me her crib. I'll be forever grateful. It's stunning as you are about to soon see!

We decided we wanted a dresser because Liam wouldn't always need a changing table but he would need a place for his clothes. We found this dresser for $15.00 in a sketchy neighborhood, good eye mom, at a yardsale! Momma and I saw definite potential :) [There's your weed puller mom!]

We then found this piece at habitat for humanity and decided it could be used for storage as a bookshelf. We got it for $75.00.

Here is the dresser mom repainted. Thanks Momma!! We added new hardware and it looked like a completely different piece!

We then primed and painted the "bookcase".....

It was mom's idea to paint it light blue! Genius! All white in the nursery seemed a little monotonous.
Yes, I love using that big word.

Alrighty...update to continue tomorrow. I'm interrupting hubby's study time with my typing. Also, I'm usually in bed around 9:00!

Oh, how I miss that old stomach. Fortunately I have been blessed. I have barely gotten a stretch mark (knock on wood) but it's not over yet. I plan on breast feeding and I hear that helps return body back to original size. We shall see ;-)

I'm gonna miss his movement but I am not going to miss maternity clothes or the lack of energy while getting ready at 5:30 am.

Progression: From then to now.

How far along? Now 39 weeks
Total weight gain: up Close to 45 lbs!
Stretch marks? One circle stretch mark the size of a dime. I call it my reflector because it's shiny and white.
Best moment this week: now enjoying maternity leave and soaking up being pregnant.

Miss Anything? my old clothes. I use to bitch about having nothing to wear and now I can't wait to go shopping in my closet! Miss sleeping on my stomach/
Movement: He has been a mover this whole pregnancy! Today he bumped elbows with daddy multiple times :) PRESH! I know I'm gonna miss him moving in my belly once he's out.
Food cravings: I have craved numerous things this pregnancy!! From boiled peanuts with chocolate milk to strawberries, to pizza lunchables to corn this week. CORN!! :)
Anything making you queasy or sick: nothing makes me queasy unfortunately but it seems everything gives me heartburn.
Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: Nope. A few braxton hicks lately and back pain. However, tonight I felt a lot of pressure down there while walking!
Symptoms: mainly heartburn and swelling! Will have to post a picture of that soon!
Belly Button in or out? in between
Wedding rings on or off? off...I miss them!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody. I cope with anger when I get scared and needless to say as a first time mom I'm starting to get a little scared.
Looking forward to: Meeting sweet baby Liam :)
Dad's Emotions: Excited and terrified stressed that baby will come during finals.

I really wish I could have kept up with the progression weekly, but with teaching comes a lack of time and energy :(
